Lighthouse Learning
At home, build a lighthouse from junk! Bring it in to school and construct a simple circuit with a lamp. Place this inside your model and light up the room!
You may want to upgrade to a series or parallel circuit using two or more cells or more lamps. Challenge a friend, the lighthouse with the brightest light is the winner!
Scary Faces
Construct a simple circuit and use it to light up the eyes of a creepy monster model. You might want to use torchlight underneath your model to make it even spookier – why not use it to scare your parents out of your bedroom! Remember to send us a picture.
Light Up Your Life
Brighten up your bedroom, your fridge or your classroom using LED throwies or create some cool LED wall art. You will need magnets, LED lamps, sticky tape and CR2032 batteries to make the most simple circuit ever! Find out more here.
Instead of magnets, how about using sticky tack?
Static Show
Using a digital camera, a balloon and your very own hair, recreate the classic hair-raising static electricity experiment by rubbing the balloon on your wool sweater to make your hair stand up! Capture each second using your camera then create a slideshow or video to send us. What other static shows can you make?
Animals with Noses that Glowses!
At home, make a simple animal out of modelling materials such as fabrics and card. Bring it in to school and construct a simple circuit with a lamp. Put the lamp in the nose of the animal to give it a nose that glows!
